Of two part construction with two original dark toned loops to the reverse. Central long loop clipped off as often found. The silver plate is good but there is a small band of underlying brass across the neck, possibly where a retaining strap was applied on display or when first plated. not particularly obvious from the front. Otherwise a scarce badge in very good condition.

An excellent officers full size die cast cap badge with two original lugs to the reverse. P for plated in the reverse of the crown. Circa 4.5cm tall. Sharp detail. Slight twisting to the lugs from service wear, otherwise in great and slightly silver toned condition. Circa 4.6mm tall.

WW1 2nd Battalion (Territorial Force) The Monmouthshire Regiment Brass Cap Badge
A scarce brass cap badge for this territorial regiment as worn from 1908 to 1922. In good condition with original slider, but note the wing tips have been shaped / curved downwards. The tail does have the distinctive arrow-head tail and is voided (see also my item 64088 for an earlier pattern). Apparently all four battalions wore this in brass pre WW1.
