Superb WW2 27th Lancers NCO White Metal Arm Badge

Heavy die struck NCO's arm badge as worn on the right shoulder, with three original lugs to reverse and a piece of Indian cloth which has been used as a backing cloth, as acquired. This is a lovely item and in good unpolished condition. Circa 5cm tall and 5.1cm wide. Very scarce.

Raised on 1st February 1941, this regiment was stood down at the end of the war and officially disbanded in June 1948. The battle honour Hindoostan was awarded to an early predecessor of this wartime raised unit, the 27th Light Dragoons for services during the Indian Mahratta War of 1803 together with the distinction of wearing the the badge of an elephant's head (as worn on the cap badge).
