WW1 Patriotic Postcard - the Entente Cordiale

A French and British soldier with two young girls sent by a father to his daughter in WW1. Of French photographic production, and hand coloured. The French strap line goes along the lines of little ones, be happy as allies, detest the Boche and together we will repatriate our lands.

The Entente Cordiale was a series of agreements signed on 8 April 1904 between the United Kingdom and France, marking the start of the alliance against Germany that fought the First World War. Beyond the immediate concerns of colonial expansion addressed by the agreement, the signing of the Entente Cordiale marked the end of almost a thousand years of intermittent conflict between the two states and their predecessors, and replaced the modus vivendi that had existed since the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 with a more formal agreement. The Entente Cordiale, along with the Anglo-Russian Entente and the Franco-Russian Alliance, later became part of the Triple Entente among Britain, France, and Russia.
