Scarce WW1 16th ( Service ) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers OSD Bronze Collar Badge
Single upright collar badge (worn vertically on the SD jacket) with St George facing left within a motto strap. This is a scarce find and according to Col. Denis Wood in his new 2nd Edition of " The Fifth Fusiliers and its Badges" a specimen pair is shown in one of Gaunt's ledgers in the National Army Museum and are annotated " 16th Battalion " which would narrow their use down to 1915 - 18. Whether this is correct or not, they not encountered very often. In good condition with some signs of service wear. Circa 5.7cm tall and 2.5cm wide at the flames.
Col D. Wood No 233 refers.
