WW2 Home Front Surrey Police Auxiliary Messenger Service ( PAMS ) lapel badge

Chrome and enamel lapel badge (variant with red enamel to crown) for the Surrey Police Auxiliary Messenger Service. Half moon lapel fitting stamped with the numeral "1" and maker marked Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St, Birmingham, excellent condition. 29mm tall.

PAMS consisted of 500 full time and a large number of part time youths between 16 and 18 who were employed as Police messengers. Put into uniform in 1941 and disbanded in 1945.
