Original WW1 Memorial Scroll - Sergeant William Rawling, 10th ( Service Battalion ) Durham Light infantry ( DLI ) - Somme casualty
In good unfolded condition with a few grubby marks to front. Reverse has pencil additions confirming he was born in Seaham Harbour and lived at New Seaham Colliery, County Durham, suggesting he was a miner.
CWGC confirms his regimental number as 15424 and he was a Battle of the Somme casualty, being killed on 16 September 1916 in France & Flanders, and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Copy of GWGC certificate will be supplied.
