Sold with photocopy of papers as they relate to his first period of service between 1923 and 1929. Born in 1908 in Devonport, he enlisted as a Boy sailor in 1923 at the age of 15. He served on various battlewagons including Impregnable, Queen Elizabeth, Valiant, and Defiance. From a quick look only I have not been able to track down his later service, but his WW2 medals are consistent with men who served in the Battle of the Atlantic and for the Mediterranean. He could well have been present at the River Plate, the hunt for the Bismarck and defending the Malta convoys. Worthy of further research.

The RFR LSGC medal was similar to that of the RNR, but with a ring suspension rather than a straight suspension bar. Awarded for 15 years service in the RFR, and prior RN service counted towards this.
