HMS Hibernia 110 gun First Rate Ship of the Line. She was launched at Plymouth dockyard on 17 November 1804, and was the only ship built to her draught, designed by Sir John Henslow. In 1805, the Hibernia was the flagship of the Channel Fleet under Admiral Lord Gardner and under the command of Captain Bedford. Prior to the Battle of Dover, the formation was stationed off Ushant, blockading the port at Brest, France. After the Napoleon war she was stationed in the Mediterranean until 1855, becoming the Malta Base Flagship in 1855 until 1902. She was broken up in Malta in 1903. This picture shows the Hibernia before her rigging was been removed and a canopy attached.
