The Hampshire Regiment Embroidered Cloth Shoulder Title
Traces of glue to the reverse otherwise in very good condition. Top right edge slightly clipped. Scarce.
Worn until 1946, an unofficial coloured regimental shoulder title in very good condition.
Initially worn in the 128 (Hampshire) Infantry Brigade by 1//4th, 2/4th and 5th Territorial Battalions of the Hampshire Regiment from 1940 onwards. The practice of wearing these subsequently spread to other battalions of the regiment (and to other regiments). The practice was not sanctioned officially until 1952.
The 7th Battalion formed part of operation Market Garden in September 1944.
