2nd Oxfordshire Rifle Volunteers Officer's Waist Belt Clasp
A scarce officer's white metal / silver washed waist belt clasp (WBC) with matching benchmarks to each part on the reverse (three lines). The number "2" to the centre of a strung bugle horn within a circlet bearing the title, "Oxfordshire Rifle Volunteers ", with rococo swirls and squared belt loops to each end. A lovely item.
The 2nd Oxfordshire Rifle Volunteers were formed 1860, became a VB of the Oxfordshire LI in 1881; and were redesignated as the 2nd Volunteer Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry in 1887. HQ Oxford, post 1908 became the 4th Battalion (TF) Oxfordshire Light Infantry.
