SWB officially impressed B40520 awarded to Pioneer Herbert Burgess, Tyne Electrical Engineers. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. In very good condition, dark toned, sadly a replacement pin. Circa 32mm in diameter. His initials "BH" crudely scratched into the reverse rim. Copy of CD version of SWB roll entry Copy of WW1 Medal Index Card (MIC) to be supplied.

366414 Pnr Herbert Burgess served overseas, was entitled to a 1914-15 Trio, enlisted 4th April 1915, discharged 6th November 1918 on account of wounds. Aged 26. He had seen service variously with the West Riding Regiment, Durham Light Infantry (DLI) and the Labour Corps. It looks like his trio would have been issued to him whilst serving with the West Riding Regiment as number 12622.

Approximately 1,150,000 badges were issued to all services, which had to be claimed and then approved.
