WW1 Silver War Badge (SWB) to Joseph Siviter 3/1st Monmouthshire (1st Brecknock Battalion South Wales Borderers) and ex South Lancashire Regiment
SWB officially impressed B234943 awarded to Private Joseph Siveter, 3/1st Reserve Monmouthshire Regiment (which had absorbed the South Wales Borderers / 1st Brecknock Battalion where he had also served) and also ex South Lancashire Regiment with whom he served overeas. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. In very good condition complete with original pin fittings (north - south). Circa 32mm in diameter. Copy of CD version of SWB roll entry Copy of WW1 Medal Index Card (MIC) to be supplied.
Pte Joseph Siviter enlisted 1st September 1914 in the South Lancashire Regiment (Regimental number 11474), entering France (despite the SWB CD-ROM stating he did not serve overseas) on 13th June 1915 and was issued with the 1914-15 Star Trio. Discharged from the 3rd/1st Reserve Monmouthshire Regiment as 30932 Pte, on 14th December 1918. Aged 38.
The 3/1st, 3/2nd and 3/3rd Battalions Monmouthshire Regiment - Formed at home bases in February 1915. All moved to Abergavenny and in September to Oswestry.
8 April 1916 : they became Reserve Bns.
1 September 1916 : 1st absorbed the 2nd and 3rd Bns. Moved to Gobowen in summer 1917.
10 July 1917 : absorbed the 1st Reserve Brecknock Bn of the South Wales Borderers. Moved to Kinmel Park in March 1918 and finally to Herne Bay in July 1918.
Approximately 1,150,000 badges were issued to all services, which had to be claimed and then approved.
