Circa 26mm in diameter, floating shanked and maker marked DOLAN & Co ST MARTINS LANE LONDON (Military clothing retailer 1835-1888 at the St Martins Lane address). Gilt 50% remaining and the button is of a semi-flat style rather than high domed.
Each red pensioner uniform had and has nine brass buttons (now anodised). Even today their buttons display the relevant monarch's crown and the letters RCI, the initials of the 'Royal Corps of Invalids' to which the Chelsea Pensioners were once a part of.
