The Lanarkshire Yeomanry Brass Cap Badge, pre 1953
A die struck brass metal cap badge with original slider to the reverse. A good strong badge with reinforcing bar to back of crown. Sharp detail and in very good condition.
The design is based upon the seal of the Royal Burgh of Lanark that of a double headed eagle grasping a bell in its right claw with a king 's crown above and a scroll " Lanarkshire Yeomanry " below. In 1953, according to Gaylor, it was decided to discard the scroll. There was no QEII version and in 1956 the Regiment was merged with two other lowland units to form the Queen 's Own Lowland Yeomanry.
K&K Vol 1 No 1430 refers.
