WW1 Silver War Badge (SWB) to Pioneer John Greenhalgh, Royal Engineers and Ex South Lancashire Regiment & Royal Lancaster Regiment
A SWB officially impressed B270798 awarded to Pioneer John Greenhalgh, Royal Engineers. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. In very good condition, bright cleaned, original C clasp and pin, but pin tip is truncated / missing. Circa 32mm in diameter.
159512 Pioneer John Greenhalgh of the Royal Engineers (3rd Reserve Battalion) was also ex South Lancashire Regiment (Number 24377) and Royal Lancaster Regiment (Number 22856) Served overseas. He enlisted on 24th November 1915 and was discharged on 10th July 1919 due to wounds, age not given. Entitled to BWM and VM. Copy of CD version of SWB roll entry to together with a copy of his WW1 Medal Index Card (MIC) to be supplied.
Approximately 1,150,000 badges were issued to all services, which had to be claimed and then approved.
