A Rare Pair of Early Royal Navy Officers Buttons pre 1774

A Royal Navy Captain's Silver Tunic Button as worn from 1757- 1774 (circa 14mm across) and a less well struck Royal Navy Lieutenant's button of the same era (circa 17mm in diameter), the latter most probably excavated. Both with original shanks. Rare.

Not often you find something of such quality surviving from the Seven Years War!

In 1774, the Royal Navy adopted the fouled anchor design for its buttons and dropped the rose motif.
