South Africa Zulu War Period - Generic Natal Cavalry Volunteers Large Brass Pouch Badge, c1870s
Die cast brass badge with monogram NCV with a QVC crown above, and one screw post remaining with retaining nut. Owen (1st Edition) No 185 refers. There were a number of Natal irregular cavalry and mounted rifles at the time of the Zulu wars and it is presumed this is a generic issue for such corps, some of which were quite small. Circa 6cm tall and 7.5cm wide. Rare.
