Large Hand Painted Wooden Shield to the Northumberland Fusiliers
A large wooden shield which I imported from Canada many years ago. Apparently it was displayed in a military college in Canada. The WW1 pattern cap badge has been beautifully recreated in oils. The No '43' below is a mystery but perhaps had a relevance when displayed in the college which I cannot discern. Very slight damage to one flame tip on badge, otherwise from the front has a really good look to it. On the reverse, one corner has damage but this does not translate through to the front nor detract. Drilled for mounting on the wall. No wood worm damage. A one off unique item. Circa 29cm tall and 28.5cm wide. The penny is included on one of the photos to give a sense of scale.
