Simply stunning large watch fob style silver hollow cast disc with QVC crown and suspension loop. Raised decorative edge and border. Circa 6cms in diameter. The Reverse engraved
"Presented by First Corporal Park for proficiency in military engineering under the instruction of Colr Serjt Betty, R.G., awarded to Sapper R. Keddie, May 1861."
Room here for considerable research with three named individuals of the corps. Quite an exceptional award from an NCO to a Private. Some traces of dry polish otherwise in stunning condition. Maker marked WA & Sn (William Adams & Son) (this rubbed but still legible). Clearly made of silver but unmarked.
Supplied together with a copy article from an unknown magazine (2 pages) concerning the Engineer Volunteers in Scotland, 1859-1908 by Ray Westlake which confirms the 1st Lanarkshire Engineer Volunteer Corps existed from 1860.
Simply stunning and possibly a unique award.
Will post to a UK address and the Channel Islands only (in respect of the latter put UK as country at check out).
