Essex Regiment Gilt Die Cast Bandcase Bandmans Badge

A large die cast gilt badge in the form of a captured French Eagle with 62 on the tablet below, with three of three original loops to the reverse (a touch of verdigris to the tip of the two e-w loops otherwise in stunning condition. Circa 7.2cms tall.

The badge represents the Eagle of the French 62me Regiment de la Ligne (62nd French Regiment of the Line) which was captured by the old 44th Foot at the Battle of Salamanca in 1812.
