Oxf & Bucks Pair of Other Ranks Chromed One Piece Shoulder Titles
An early pair of Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry facing and matched chromed shoulder titles with original chromed hexagonal fittings. One may have once been blackened but has been cleaned back to the chrome finish. In good condition.
Other Ranks 'Chromed' White Metal Shoulder Titles, as worn from 1954-1958 and continued to be worn by the Regiment when part of the Light Infantry Brigade. This same title continued to be worn on the battledress blouse by the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (TA) Battalion until circa1963.
Westlake confirms that in 1954 the order was given that existing stocks of gilding metal titles will be 'dipped' to approximate the 'new' (white metal) pattern and this that this accounts for the chromed specimens that turn up, as is the case with these ones.
Westlake Nos 1178/1179 refer.
