Africa - Sudan Medical Service Chromed and Enamel Badge

A scarce red enamel and chrome badge, with original and stout pin to reverse, maker marked Firmin London. In good condition overall (some minor wear to chromium on the high points), enamel intact (some light surface marks) and most probably dating from the early1950s. Sudan obtained independence from Britain and Egypt in 1956. Circa 3.9cms in diameter. Not seen one before and does not appear in Renfrew. Possibly a civilian organisation and worn on the apron rather than a hat. Any information welcome.
