The Queens Royal Lancers Matched Pair of Officers Frosted Silver Plated & Gilt Collar Badges
A stunning matched pair with original silvered loops and retaining cotter split pins. QEII issue.
The basis of the collar badge design is the crown and crossed lances of the cap badges of the two parent regiments, but the central motif recalls the earlier histories of both. For the 16th Lancers, the ornate letter “C” within the Garter is a reference to the honour title of “Queen’s”, first granted in 1766 and so referring to Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, wife of George III. The circlet for the 5th Lancers recalls its Irish origins and heritage, both with the Irish Harp and with the motto from the Order of St. Patrick.
