A superb original yellow brass example with north -south brass loops. Sharp detail.

A brass badge as worn on the undress glengarry cap from 1874 - 1881. Originally raised in 1755, the 55th (Westmorland) Regiment's nickname was 'the Two Fives' after their numeral. Their badge depicts the 'China' dragon. This was added after Lieutenant Butler captured an Imperial Dragon standard at Chusan in 1841.The wreath has three battle honours on it for the Crimean War. It was worn until 1881 when when the 55th was amalgamated with the 34th (Cumberland) Regiment of Foot to form The Border Regiment.
