WW2 Home Front - Observer Corps Officer's Gilt Cap Badge
A scarce original officer's pre 1941 die cast figure of an Elizabethan coast-watcher holding a flaming torch and scanning the horizon resting in a curved scroll inscribed 'Observer Corps'; the reverse retaining two original long loops (some slight twisting from service wear). Gilt finish now a little dulled and a touch of verdigris to front otherwise in good condition with no damage. Circa 4.5cms tall.
The 'Observer Corps' was awarded the title 'Royal' by His Majesty King George VI in April 1941, in recognition of service carried out by Observer Corps personnel during the Battle of Britain.
