WW1 Tyneside Scottish ( 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 29th Battalions Northumberland Fusiliers ) 2nd pattern White Metal Cap Badge, introduced April 1915

Original white metal cap badge in good condition with original brooch pin to the reverse and mounted on Black Watch tartan cloth backing badge. As worn in WW1 by 20th , 21st , 22nd , 23rd and 29th (Service) Battalions, The Northumberland Fusiliers ( Tyneside Scottish ). This badge has a nice curve to it and original stout pin fitting as encountered on WW1 examples. Whilst some may consider this the "angry ferret" and therefore a "fake" please note it is correctly voided between the thistles and the portculis is not fully down and that originals of this pattern do exist as evidenced by both Gaylor (plate 36) and Kipling and King (Fig 1137 Vol1).
