In very good condition with original as manufactured brooch-type fitting. This is as found issued to women. Westlake notes that even-numbered units were formed of women, odd-numbered units were formed of men (p167).

VAD companies were formed in 1909 to supplement the medical elements of the Territorial Force.

Westlake 813 refers (who notes that VAD titles often appear with a brooch-type fixing).
