Northumberland Fusiliers Officer's Service Dress OSD Bronze Cap Badge - Jennens - Blades - Type 2
A die cast bronze example of two part construction with flames to 18 points and the flames are more deeply curved than the example listed above with two original blades to the reverse. Mounted on the ball is St George facing left within a title circle NORTHUMBERLAND / FUSILIERS. Circa 42mm tall and 32mm wide across the flames. Worn on the SD cap. This pattern worn from 1902, but note 16 on page 75 of Colonel Wood's book states that by 1914 the regular battalions and depot had stopped wearing this particular pattern. Maker marked "J&Co" (Jennens & Co) to reverse of grenade. A few spots of verdigris otherwise in super condition and a fine example.
Col D Wood "The Fifth Fusiliers and its Badges" (2nd Edn) No 172 refers.
