British India - Burma Rifles Brass Cap Badge (of Gurkha Interest)
A nicely cast example of the Peacock with tail up and the scroll below 'BURMA RIFLES'. With two original loops to the reverse.
The Gurkha Museum Publication "Insignia of Gurkha Units in India and Burma up to 1948" dates this pattern of their cap badge from 1920 - 1937. Renfrew claims (Vol 1 no 1010) that it was worn from 1937 to 1942. In any event, the regiment contained a large number of Gurkhas.
