WW1 Lancashire 1914 Hallmarked Silver & Enamel Special Constable Constabulary Police Mufti Buttonhole Lapel

Maker marked and Birmingham hallmark for 1917 (Letter 'S') although the design incorporates the date 1914. Enamel intact and silver very dark toned. Small flaw to rim just below the date 1914 otherwise in good worn condition

Wilkinson & Cowdell 'Special Constabulary Insignia of England & Wales' (2nd Edn) p67, Fig 2 refers (although the one in Wilkinson is silver plated rather than sterling silver and hallmarked like this one).
