Colonial (?) Royal Pioneer Corps (RPC) Officer's White Metal Cap Badge - Slouch Hat?

A die cast white metal example with two original very long copper loops to the reverse. Possibly for wear on a slouch hat. This leans to it being a colonial pioneer unit. Any information welcome.
