9th Gurkha Rifles Officer's Silver Plated Shoulder Pouch Belt Plate Badge

A good scarce silver plated cast example. Within a crowned oak wreath, a Maltese cross with ball finials to the tips and lions between the angles. The the centre, within a circlet "Gurkhas", "9" on a seeded ground. Four screw posts to the reverse, complete with backing plate, but with only one original fastening nut remaining. In very good condition with sharp detail. King's crown.

The Gurkha Museum publication "Insignia of the 9th Gurkha Rifles" 9GR A2A / A2B refers (similar to, but not identical) and Figure 1169 in Ashok Nath's "Sowars and Sepoys in the Great War".
