XIXH - 19th Hussars (Alexandra PWO) Officer's Shoulder Title, Pre 1908

A rare officer's Roman numeral large pattern shoulder title in gilt brass with two original loops to the reverse. Only minor signs of service wear and in very good condition. This pattern only worn until 1908 when replaced by XIXRH.

See the last photo for all four types of shoulder titles worn by this small cavalry regiment (Westlake only lists three). The other shoulder titles are listed elsewhere on this site for sale.

This pattern was worn with the distinctive Indian elephant cap badge but was dropped to together with the elephant badge as a consequence of the change in name from 19th Alexandra PWO Hussars to the title Queen Alexandra 's Own Royal Hussars in 1908.

Westlake No 177 refers.
