British Indian Army - 9th JAT Regiment Officer's Silver Plated Cap Badge

A neatly cast silver plated badge, with the regimental number in Roman numerals, 'IX', above a scroll bearing the title, 'Jat Regiment', surmounted by a King's Crown. Two original loops. Circa 37mm tall. Worn circa 1922-1947.


The IX (9th) JAT Regiment of the Indian Army existed from 1922 to 1947, and consisted of the following units:
1st Royal Battalion (Light Infantry)
2nd Battalion (Mooltan Battalion)
3rd Battalion (from 10th Jats)
4th Battalion (from 18th Infantry)

The regiment was allocated to India at the time of partition (1947).
