Theatre cast, with two integral loops and strengthening bar to reverse. The standard KAR bugle surmounted by a king's crown with a pair of crossed machine guns superimposed over the bugle. In very good undamaged condition and rare.

In 1940, known as 3rd/1st (Machine Gun) Battalion KAR, but by 1943 had been renumbered to 31st (Ny) (Machine Gun) Bn, KAR. Saw service in India during WW2. There was also a 41st (Ny) Machine Gun Bn KAR which by 1943 had been redesignated as a Reinforcement Bn KAR (source Fecitt, Vol2, p57).
