RECCE Reconnaissance Corps Trophy Stable Belt with Badges
A WW2 / post WW2 period stable belt that has had original badges attached by its original owner, completely untouched and new to market. I have not attempted to remove any of the items (they are securely attached) and the stable belt itself is not in great condition so sold as seen, no returns on this item.
With the addition of badges like this it can either be referred to by collectors as a 'trophy belt', 'souvenir belt' or 'hate belt'.
This belt is made from strips of green and yellow coloured cotton webbing, the colours of the WW2 raised reconnaissance regiments. It has its leather straps, two metal buckles but it appears to be missing its fastening metalwork.
A number of cloth and metal badges have been attached to the belt as follows (left to right):
Gordon Highlanders other ranks white metal glengarry badge on two loops (some staining)
WW2 Parachute Regiment White Metal King's Crown Cap badge on two loops, un-voided crown
Royal Artillery Full size WW1 era Brass Cap Badge on slider (some polishing)
Scottish Horse WW1/ WW2 pattern cap badge in white metal, with two loops
RAF King's Crown Cap Badge in Brass (polished and stained), two loops
Rank Pip for an Officer, two loops
Major's / Warrant Officer's Crown in brass, two loops
It measures circa 74cm long (to the end of the straps) by 7.2cm wide. It looks like the owner has embroidered his two initials. One is clearly a J, the other an S or a G perhaps?
Please see my pictures for the details of the condition, which complement this description. There is an additional listing under my item 70378 which gives more photos. I am not prepared to dismantle or split it up, it will be delivered as is. I am happy all the badges still present are original.
Please also note that I will only post this to a UK address on account of both its weight and relative bulk.
