Attractively engraved to the reverse with the grenade and emblem of the Northumberland Fusiliers, St George slaying the dragon. Front of disc is engraved ( the engraving covers a hallmark for 1913 ). Not listed in Westlake and also not to be confused with the Army Apprentice School, who wore a title with their name spelt out in full.

Gilt bright with two original lugs and backing plate. This is exactly 2 inches in length and was authorised for wear by Army Order 249 of August 1916 and this was only issued in this size up to 1922 (discontinued for wear on uniform by Army Order 434 of 1922).

Wound stripes issued in WW2 were only 1.5 inches in length.
