WW1 Durham City Special Constable Constabulary Police Enamel Gilt Mufti Lapel Buttonhole Badge
A rare badge from this very small force. Not to be confused with the frequently encountered Durham County specials badge from the same era. Enamel undamaged but there is a small bleed of white enamel into base of red cross during firing. Original horseshoe fixing and maker marked Thomas Fattorini, Bolton.

A pleasing wite metal example, crested crane to centre of wreath with scroll "Uganda Police" below, the wreath surmounted by a King's Crown.
This pattern worn from 1947 until change of crown a few years after the accession of Queen Elizabeth II, so a short lived badge and very hard to find. Not in either volume of Renfrew. Scarce.
