23rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Welch (Welsh) Fusiliers) Officer's Waist Belt Clasp (WBC) pre 1881

Scarce pre-1881 officers silver and gilt, the "Small plumes / large numbers" pattern waist belt clasp. The Prince of Wales's plumes above the number "23" to the centre of a circlet bearing the title with plain squared rococo scrolled belt loops to each end. Some dark toning to silver otherwise gilt bright and in good condition. No benchmarks evident but a good tight match.

A good blackened brass metal die struck cap badge with two original loops to the reverse. One usually encounters the larger Glengarry badge of this period (K&K Vol 1 No 689). Circa 4cms tall. Rare.

Three original dark toned lugs and central expansion hole behind crown. Worn from 1898 to 1903 from when the regiment adopted cross lances as their main motif. No damage to applied coronet which is something to watch out for on this pattern. In very good condition.

Die cast silver plated plumes with applied gilt coronet. Circa 3.9cm tall. Two long silver plated loops to the reverse. Some wear and twisting to lugs otherwise in good bright condition.

A lovely small badge with maker's mark for Gaunt (JRG & S) and Birmingham Assay stamps with date letter 'M' for 1936. Circa 27mm tall. Worn as a field service side cap and collar badge in this size. Cypher of the abdicated monarch King Edward VIII to centre. A rare and short lived badge.

A bi-metal cap badge in good condition with original slider. Two sweat / braising holes to reverse of scroll.

The star of St Patrick in white metal with brass title scroll superimposed. In 1922 it was amalgamated with the 7th Dragoon Guards, at which point it lost reference to its Irish pedigree.
