WW1 Northumberland Fusiliers (NF) Officer's Cap Badge - Modified with slider

An officer's issue, butt probably the property of a senior NCO, possibly an RSM, given how polished away the detail is. Converted to a slider by the original owner and missing its loops, which have been neatly removed. Name of owner: "Jim" scratched on to the slider. Of two part riveted construction. Whilst polished and therefore sold as seen, this has some charm to it.

The Royal Gloucestershire Hussars ( Yeomanry ) Brass Cap Badge - Dowler

A good heavy die struck cap badge with original slider which is maker marked " Wm. Dowler. ( B'ham ) ". This is one of several naming styles used by Dowler. This pattern of naming is correct, earlier than most and not often encountered. Scarce.

This pattern was worn post 1908, the portcullis is surmounted by a ducal coronet (the arms of the Dukes of Beaufort).

The design for this badge was not fixed until late November 1914 by the Tyneside Scottish Committee, and was replaced by the more imposing 2nd pattern badge in January 1915. A die cast bi-metal badge with two original loops, cotter pin and two braising / sweat / expansion holes to the reverse of the scroll. In very good worn condition.
Worn in this size and with lugs in the beret and also as the left facing collar badge. The cap and collar were of the same size and design.
