In good overall condition with two of two dark toned loops to the reverse. The bugle and garter pattern was replaced in 1895 with the plate with four stars. Worn by the volunteer units which did not have a specific design. Instead they identified themselves from the initials of their corps worked in white worsted on the shoulder straps. Gilding metal brass cap / collar badge fern leaf design with NZ. Two original M&K style loops to the reverse. Maker marked M&K Ltd to the reverse. Circa 4.2cm long and 1.7cm wide. In very good condition. This is the pattern for 1939-45 Temporary Staff - Corbett page 92 refers. Scarce.
