Royal Artillery Volunteers Victorian Officers helmet plate
A fine silver plated example worn circa 1878-1902. Royal Arms, pierced around the shield, with scroll below bearing a laurel spray. Below the scroll, a gun with fixed wheel resting on a scroll inscribed 'Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt'. Three original silvered loops to reverse. Original slider to reverse (some twisting and light scratches). Has been lacquered but in good worn condition. It is a mystery as to why this should have be such a hard badge to find, the assumption being that earlier non Royal title cap badges were to be used up first.

Many corps of militia wore the busby with full dress for a period beyond 1882 when gold lace and gilt and brass badges were introduced for all the Militia Artillery.
