Pioneer Corps Large Pattern Brass White Metal Cap Badge
A die struck example in white metal (not plated).
Circa 4.7cms tall. Scarce to find in white metal rather than gilding metal. Various theories abound from RPC attached to Armoured Units for wear on the Black Beret, to Scottish TA units, to the unit's police.
Formed in 1939. They became 'Royal' in 1946, but without a change in badge design.

Pre 1953 issue, King's crown, of two part construction, silver plate, gilt and enamel. Two original silvered loops to the reverse of each and maker marked JR Gaunt London. Circa 2.8cms tall. One marked 'P' for silver plated. Some minor damage to enamel on circlet of each when examined closely, but not obvious.
