A die cast white metal example with two original very long copper loops to the reverse. Possibly for wear on a slouch hat. This leans to it being a colonial pioneer unit. Any information welcome.

The Army Remount Department was formed in circa 1875 at Soharanpur but badges were not authorised until 1931 (Indian Dress Regulations 1931 para 179).

One of a series of plates depicting Boer War generals with attractive fretted lattice work border. Central transfer in very good condition. Unmarked on reverse. No cracks, chips or repairs to plate. The small black mark on the reverse is a firing or kiln mark. Circa 21.5cm in diameter.
