Die struck white metal militia glengarry badge, circa 1870 - 1881. This pattern is not listed in K&K. Circa 6.2cm tall and 3.7cm wide. One dark toned lug remaining of two, the one in the crown as been clipped off. Sharp detail with two slight spots of verdigris staining to front. Scarce.

A star of eight points, the topmost point displaced by a Victorian crown. On this a laurel wreath. Within the wreath a strap inscribed the garter motto Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense. In the centre the regimental device of the Warwickshire Regiment, an antelope with a coronet around its neck and chain attached standing on a torse on a black velvet cloth background. Victorian Northamptonshire & Rutland Militia Officers Silver Plated Large Pattern Button

Circa 25mm in diameter, fixed shank, with maker marks POW feathers / Jennens & Co, London to the reverse. Silver plate is dark toned, minor service wear, but sharp detail. Worn circa 1855 - 1881. Presumably as England's smallest county, Rutland was unable to raise its own establishment of militia.
