Colonial (?) Royal Pioneer Corps (RPC) Officer's White Metal Cap Badge - Slouch Hat?

A die cast white metal example with two original very long copper loops to the reverse. Possibly for wear on a slouch hat. This leans to it being a colonial pioneer unit. Any information welcome.

A large die struck badge circa 64mm high by 42mm across. An exploding grenade with a towed field gun facing right over Southern Cross stars on the centre ball and surrounded by a wreath. Die struck / stamped brass construction with both original lugs present, a large badge which is circa 6cms wide x 5.8 cms tall, (the collar badges are of the same design but about half this size). I very good conditio with most of its black finish intact. Worn circa 1930 - 1942.
