A gilding metal cap badge with original slider. In excellent condition.

The Regiment used the family crest of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (the family crest of Prince Albert) with the motto 'Treu und fest' ('Loyal and steadfast'). A germanic symbol which survived throughout WW1, unlike the more blatent use eagles by other regiments.

The badge is fairly simple in design with the motto 'Viret in aeternum' ('It flourishes for ever'). In 1922 the Regiment was amalgamated with the 18th Hussars.

A small gilding-metal die cast cap badge with a '13' on a Z-shaped scroll inscribed 'Hussars' and surmounted by an Imperial crown with original slider. Circa 3.3cm tall. Described in the 1900 Dress regulations as a field-service cap badge, but photographic evidence suggests the larger bi-metal badges were more often worn. In 1922, the 13th merged with the 18th Hussars.
