British India - South Waziristan Scouts Silver Plated Cap Badge, circa 1922
An attractive badge, cast and silver plated with two original loops to the reverse. It depicts the head of an urial ram, a wild sheep of Western Asia with the scroll below bearing the unit title, surmounted by a King's crown. Circa 4.2cms tall. A flat backed example in white metal (possibly silver plated) with two original integral loops to reverse. Theatre cast. See my item 68108 for an officer's cap badge.
This pattern was introduced in 1945 and worn until 1956. After Independence the Regiment was transferred to Pakistan.
