A silver plated example with two original long loops to reverse (some bending but fully functional). In good condition. Worn circa 1889-1947.

The unit was originally formed in 1872 as the Northern Bengal Volunteer Rifle Corps, drawing heavily on British tea planters for recruits. In 1889 the auxiliary unit was reorganised as the Northern Bengal Mounted Rifles, with Darjeeling ...  read more

Indian Army - QVC Victorian Bengal Medical Service White Metal Pagri Badge

Indian Army - QVC Victorian Bengal Medical Service White Metal Pagri Badge

A quite stunning badge, heavy solid struck in one piece in what looks like unmarked Indian silver with original pagri fitting. Circa 6.7cms tall. The VRI monogram (adopted in 1877) is riveted to the centre and the casting is very fine but most probably locally made in India. Most likely an officer's / senior doctor's badge as opposed to an Indian Mess Servant. Indian Medical Service was formed ...  read more

Colonial Indian Imperial Police Senior Officers Rank Insignia

Colonial Indian Imperial Police Senior Officers Rank Insignia

Silver plated set of three items mounted on khaki drill epaulette strap (this looks to have been reused from something else given the multitude of surplus holes, but it serves as a useful way to display the insignia). Minor wear to plate and velvet backing to crown is worn otherwise in good overall condition. Pre 1947.

A UK Made brass shoulder title with two original loops for fixings. In very good condition. Worn circa 1903 - 1923. Scarce.

In 1903, Lord Kitchener's Indian Army reforms were implemented, under which the 1st (Duke of Connaught's Own) Bombay Lancers were renamed as the 31st (Duke of Connaught's Own) Bombay Lancers and this was the regiment's title as they entered the First Worl...  read more

Indian Army - 19th Hyderabad Regiment Brass Shoulder Title

Indian Army - 19th Hyderabad Regiment Brass Shoulder Title

A good scarce British made brass shoulder title. Two original hex type lugs to the reverse with original orange felt backing. I am unclear as to which battalion the backing represented but the Regiment had been formed from six others with the re-organisation of the Indian Army in 1922 so perhaps its has some relevance. In very good condition with cotter pin.
