Rowlandson confirms the buttons were round and with the letters L I V in Cypher.

Georgian Napoleonic Royal Regiment of Artillery Officer's Gilt Two Piece Construction Tunic Coatee Button

This button displays the Ordnance arms. Circa 20.5mm in diameter, it is slightly convex and of two part metal construction with original shank to reverse and a blow hole to reverse for heat expansion when the two parts were braised together. C24mm in diameter, fixed shank and maker marked Firmin & Sons, 153 Strand & 13 Conduit Street London. Gilt bright, in superb condition. QVC crown and VR monogram to centre of garter strap. This pattern from 1855 - 1902.

This style of maker naming used between 1856 - 1860 only making this a scrace button.
